A cool blast from the past blows in, with this “Red” Ruffing single-signed baseball. When the New York Yankees went on a run of total domination, winning four consecutive World Series championships from 1936-1939, Ruffing anchored the pitching staff. During this stretch, the Hall of Fame hurler was a 20-game winner in each of the four seasons, to rank as the team’s winningest pitcher of the duration. Ruffing (d.1986) has signed on a side panel of an OAL/MacPhail baseball with moderately faded labeling stamps. Though Ruffing’s black fiber-tip marker signature shows a bit of ink migration, it remains very bold, with plenty of display appeal.
