Presented is an attractive program issued for Super Bowl I between the Green Bay Packers, champions of the NFL, and the Kansas City Chiefs, champions of the AFL, held on January 15, 1967, at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Together with a ticket stub from the historic game. Although Kansas City Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt is credited with naming the championship game the "Super Bowl" at the time, it did not become the game's official title until 1969. That fact is evident by the title of the program: "World Championship Game/AFL vs. NFL." This first "World Championship Game" marked the official beginning of the historic merger between the NFL and AFL, which was officially completed in 1970. Green Bay upheld the honor of the older, more-established NFL by defeating Kansas City 35-10, thereby giving legendary coach Vince Lombardi the first of his two consecutive Super Bowl victories. Packers quarterback Bart Starr received MVP honors for his performance in the game. Today, the Super Bowl trophy is named The Lombardi Trophy in his honor. The program (8 x 11 inches) displays light handling wear and is in Excellent to Mint condition overall. The accompanying ticket stub (2.75 x 5.25 inches), gold variation, has been graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. This is an outstanding high-grade pairing of these two desirable and historic souvenirs commemorating the inaugural Super Bowl.
