Sports promoter and National Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Edward Gottlieb sought to correspond with Negro League executive Richard Powell on the offered typed letter signed (TLS) single-page artifact. The dated 2/23/51 correspondence piece complete with athletic letterhead requests "a series of game through Virginia and the Carolinas" during the spring. The bold signature presents a sold ("9") and is accompanied by a staple attached branded envelope sent to Mr. Powell. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Note: This piece arrives from the Richard Powell collection. Mr. Powell was an instrumental figure in Negro League history and responsible for moving the Elite Giants franchise from Nashville to Baltimore prior to the 1938 season. He later served as the team's general manager, and under his tutelage, fielded a lineup of legends including Roy Campanella, Junior Gilliam and Joe Black.
