Extremely rare nineteenth-century large cabinet card featuring a woman seated at a work table hand-rolling cigarettes, issued as a premium by the Allen & Ginter tobacco company. The cabinet is slightly larger than a traditional cabinet card, measuring approximately 4-7/8 x 7-7/8 inches, and features the advertisement for "Richmond Straight Cut, NO. 1./Cigarettes. Are The Best" printed on the top and bottom borders. The identification "The Cigarette Maker" is printed within the photo next to the woman posing. There is an eyelet hole at the top (most likely contained a string to hang for display). The cabinet card grades Good overall due to light scattered foxing and a pencil notation on the blank reverse. Also accompanying this cabinet card is a similar premium cabinet (4-5/8 x 7-15/16 inches) featuring a child at a spinning wheel. This card displays four clipped corners and uneven side edges, indicating it may have been cut down at one point. This is a pair of very high quality cabinet cards worthy of any advanced nonsports or tobacco advertising collection. Total: 2 cards.
