Description

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Famer Paul Waner. The lethal "Big Poison" battered National League pitching staffs by swatting more than 3,100 hits during his storied career. A wonderful period example that pictures Waner getting ready to bat with a geared-up catcher and umpire in the background illustration. Exhibits pinpoint centering with virtually untouched corners, clean off-white edges and stirring player/background accents. The dated blue text reverse is problem-free. Of the 92 total copies of the player/back color combination judged by PSA, this immortal resides as 1 of 7 at the grading level with only 2 higher (top 8%). Part of a 1934-1936 Diamond Stars PSA graded near set break available throughout this auction.
