Description

"Mr. Hockey" Variation! Graded Authentic by SGC due to minimum size requirements not being met. In an industry where the term "rare" is often bandied about, the offered 1952 Royal Desserts Hockey #8 Gordie Howe blue tint variant is absolutely the "real deal!" While major grading companies have not distinguished between more common black tint and blue tint variations, Huggins & Scott Auctions has confirmed the existence of three examples of the latter representing the Detroit Red Wings Hall of Fame legend including the offered sample. A monumental regional of arguably the most complete hockey player of all-time, this neatly hand cut example of the "brilliant young right wing" has survived the decades in fine condition. Despite moderate creasing along the upper right and lower left corners, this artifact still showcases outstanding eye appeal. The blank reverse is problem-free. One of only six total Howe copies judged by SGC in any condition! Part of a 1952 Royal Desserts Hockey near set available separately throughout this auction. It is unknown if a blue tint Howe variation has ever been offered for public sale through a major auction house.
