One of the greatest plays in the long history of Major League Baseball is commemorated, with this Willie Mays signed photograph. Known as “The Catch”, this thrilling defensive gem took place at the Polo Grounds, during Game 1 of the 1954 World Series. With the score tied in the eighth inning and two Cleveland Indians on base, the supremely talented Mays saved the New York Giants bacon, by tracking down a 420-foot blast to the deepest part of the field, off the bat of slugger Vic Wertz. Framed to overall dimensions of 21” x 25”, this 16” x 20” memorable moment photograph stops time just as Mays is about to make his celebrated over-the-shoulder snag. The Hall of Fame centerfielder has signed with (“9”) potency, an inch above his extended glove.
