Description

An an Important era for the New York Jets franchise is represented, with this pair of rare, full-size 1960s AFL pennants. A charter member of the AFL, the Jets were founded as the New York Titans in 1960. Joe Namath was selected number one overall in the 1965 AFL Draft, and in his fourth season as the Jets QB, he led them all the way to a famously guaranteed victory over the heavily favored Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III, on 1/12/69. Styled in the Titans and Jets colors respectively, these vintage pennants take you from one end of the decade, to the other, with: New York Titans first year pennant (GD) with a a player wearing number 16 and team name lettering, in gold graphics on a blue background; and New York Jets pennant (EX+) with Joe Namath and the Statue of Liberty in front on the NYC skyline, and team name lettering, in white graphics on a green background.
