Boasting itself “The Base Ball Paper of the World,” The Sporting News issued its complete 1922 Major League schedule for a season that marked the Yankees’ final campaign as unwelcome Polo Grounds tenants. Printed likely for retail display, this example is one of a scant few survivors! The thick stock collectible measures 11-3/4 x 21” and showcases complete American and National League schedule grids. Symmetrically lining the sides are all (16) big league skippers, with Cobb, Huggins, Mack, McGraw, Rickey and Speaker among them.
While affected by signs of previous display (perhaps for the entire 1922 season), the keepsake still presents well. There is a horizontal fold, as well as a series of creases and separation on portions of the American League schedule. Nevertheless, the item remains complete with a string hanger intact.
