Presented is a prime opportunity to begin or sweeten a collection with (150) 1934-44 Group 1 and 1945-64 Group 2 Beehive hockey photos. These black and white mounted pictures were a popular premium that motivated many dumpster-diving collectors to dig in the trash for redeemable St. Lawrence Starch Company proof-of-purchase labels. The photos in both groups were issued without production limits and were printed as supply demanded or as players entered, left or were traded in the NHL. Therefore some scarcer variations of common or semi-star players command a much higher premium than the Hall of Famers and All-Stars that were produced in large numbers. Howe (Red Wings, Away Jersey GD), B. Hull (Blackhawks, VG-EX), N. Metz (Maple Leafs, Older Photo, EX) J. Ratelle (Rangers, No Err., EX), M. Richard (Canadiens, GD) and A. Rollins (Maple Leafs, VG-EX). The (12) Group 1 commons in this collection grade mostly (VG) with some better or lesser. The composite condition of the (119) Group 2 commons is 15% (EX or better), 20% (VG-EX), 45% (VG), and 20% (GD or lesser).
