In what ultimately turned out to be a failed bid for a third straight World Series title, the 1931 Philadelphia Athletics prevailed in the opener as Lefty Grove fanned seven in a 6-2 win at Sportsman’s Park. Encapsulated and Graded EX 5 by PSA, this Game 1 ticket stub is the lone specimen at its tier with none graded higher. Consistent with the technical assessment, the voucher presents beautifully with printed seating/event details on the obverse and portraits of Cardinals principals Sam Breadon and Gabby Street on the reverse.
