Possibly unique 1954 Esskay Meats Dave Koslo with a clear 1953-54 Briggs Gil Hodges image on the reverse! Although George Bernhard Koslowski’s Oriole career lasted less than two months, that was still plenty of time for him to appear on this hot dog card. Featuring an early Memorial Stadium background, this portrait already hails from among the most desirable regional issues in the hobby. Additionally, the relic is improbably adorned by a portion of a 1953-54 Briggs complete box on the reverse. Being that the printing vendor distributed boxes for the Esskay, Briggs and Hunter’s Wieners trading card promotions, a loading error is the probable cause for this interesting mishap. A portion of the Briggs trademark and the Brooklyn Dodgers team identification is immediately visible. On the bottom edge of the reverse, a cloudy backdrop and a Dodgers cap is recognizable. Upon matching photographs from the series, conclusive identification of Gil Hodges as the subject is confirmed! The card displays only mild obverse wrinkling and exhibits traces of the original orange bordering along the right edge.
