Worn and autographed by well-traveled mentor Larry Bowa during his first season with the Anaheim Angels, this road jersey was a first-year style garment. The gray knit button-down garment features a blue pinstripe pattern, “ANGELS” angled across the chest in red-on-white-on-blue tackle twill, “2” sewn to the back in like fashion and “2” sewn to the left front in dark-on-light blue double twill. In navy-on-white double twill, “BOWA” is arched atop the back number in block-style characters. The sleeves are tailored from solid blue knit and feature a team logo patch (left sleeve) and Jackie Robinson 50th Anniversary logo patch (right sleeve). Just below the front “2,” Bowa’s black marker autograph shows (“8-9”) strength. The tapered left front tail is home to a “Rawlings” label and flap tags respectively denoting “2 INCH EXTRA LENGTH,” size “46” and “SET 1 1997.” The item shows light to moderate wear with puckering about the twill components.
