A dedicated manager and his star slugger power-up this OAL/Cronin baseball with their coveted autographs. Supreme hitter Ted Williams brought an intelligent approach to the hapless Washington Senators in 1969, earning Manager of the Year honors. Williams was together with his tremendous slugger Frank Howard, with the Senators/Texas Rangers from 1969-1972. Howard benefitted greatly from Williams tutoring, doubling his walk rate, and significantly cutting down on strikeouts, while blasting homers in big bunches. Period-signed during their 1969-1972 teaming, this vintage baseball is considerably toned under a coating of shellac. Howard’s autograph is located on the south panel, and much of his given name, Frank, is obliterated by an abrasion. The visible portions of Howard’s signature show (“5”) strength. The all-important Williams autograph is a (“7”) strength example, perfectly spotted on the sweet spot. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
