Comic strip characters of long ago are spotlighted with this group of (3) King Features comic strip production art panels. Only our eldest citizens were around when these ancient comic strips were published, as they were created between 1935 and 1942. All are sturdy, and have overlays and adhesive residue stains, attesting to their genuine nature as source material for newspaper syndication runs.
Featured are:
Pete the Tramp 19-3/4" x 4-3/4" board by C.D. Russell, with a copyright overlay dated 1935. This amusing strip sees Pete tie his sword swallower companion hobo's neck in a knot, to prevent him from swallowing a generous woman's silverware.
Bringing Up Father 19-3/4" x 5-1/2" board by George McManus, with a round cutout on the first panel, and a copyright overlay dated 1939. This strip stars lucky sweepstakes winner Jiggs, in a failed attempt to present his baby son with a wide-eyed puppy.
Barney Google and Snuffy Smith 15-1/2" x 4" board by Billy DeBeck, with a copyright overlay dated 1942. This one is all Snuffy, as he works through rounding up women for a the "Soljers' Dance". Written on the back, is "Snuffy's Getting Choosey".
