The Freeman was a “National Illustrated Colored Newspaper” that featured Negro-related articles from around the country. The back page of this edition has a quarter-page composite photo of the Saint Louis Cubs, apparently a local independent baseball team. Among the pictured players are future Negro Leaguers Oscar Hutt and Fred Bostick, who both went on to play with the St. Louis Stars/Giants. Other players include J. Wilson, C. Smith, J. Dixon, C. Quiney, H. Hall, J. Kuntz, E. Tyler and manager, Jas. Fuqua.

In our research we could find little-to-no information about the Cubs team. An account of the game and a line score is seen as well. On another note, The Chicago American Giants Negro League team is advertising upcoming games as well. Good condition with overall edge wear and loose pages on left border. Opening Bid $500.
