A key man for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1931-1936, first baseman “Ripper” Collins enjoyed his finest season when the infamous “Gashouse Gang” scrapped their way to a World Series championship in 1934. No need to mask up, as the acrid smell that gave this infamous squad its nickname has long since dissipated from this 1934-1935 Rip Collins game-used bat. Collins put up some mighty big numbers during this two-year period, and it should be looked upon as real honor to wrap your mitts around this antique war club, in light of its contributions to the offense of one of baseball’s most iconic teams. Authentic use is outstanding with contact marks, checking, gouges, and a handle crack noted. While the facsimile autograph on the barrel of this Louisville Slugger signature model is “Rip Collins”, the Cardinals premier slugger was better known as “Ripper” Collins. Full LOA from John Taube-PSA/DNA. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Opening Bid $200.
