Paul Blair was an integral part of the Baltimore Orioles dynasty that won four American League pennants and two World Series championships between 1966 and 1970, playing flawless centerfield with timely hitting. He wore #33 in 1964 and 1965, before switching to #6 in 1966. He played in only 8 games in 1964 (only 1 plate appearance, pinch runner & late inning defensive replacement), whereas he played in 119 games in 1965, his official rookie year. A felt swatch on the inside rear collar stitched “65 33 42” identifies the year of issue, number of jersey and size. The year is also identified by a flagtag in the left shirttail reading “SET 1/1965.” The tailoring of this rookie year jersey is consistent with his later Orioles jerseys that were a size smaller. This size 42 road flannel jersey by Spalding has a zipper front and shows strong game use. Stating that this is the first early Paul Blair jersey that he has handled, it is accompanied by a Phil Wood LOA. Opening Bid $400.
