Make a timely acquisition with the winning of this 5/7/55 Boston Red Sox Baseball Hall of Fame wristwatch. Made by Lord Elgin, this watch was presented to Al Simmons during the Sox annual Hall of Fame Day game. Each of the 19 Hall of Famers participating in this Fenway Park event received one of these watches, including Simmons' former Philadelphia Athletics teammates Mickey Cochrane, Lefty Grove and Jimmie Foxx, along with other greats such as Joe DiMaggio, and Cy Young.
Nearly 70 years old, this wristwatch remains very attractive, with only minor touches of wear. The leather band is supple, and the clasp is securely attached. Engraved on the back, is "May 7, 1955 Al Simmons". In place of numerals for hour markers, the watch face is adorned with letters spelling out "Boston Red Sox", with "Baseball Hall of Fame" spanning the area between 10 and 2 o'clock. Accompanying is the original presentation box, with "Boston Red Sox Baseball Hall of Fame, Al Simmons, May 7, 1955," etched on the lid. Comes with a Letter of Provenance signed by Simmons grandson, Daniel Frederick Simmons.
