Hall of Famer Bobby Doerr retired from the Boston Red Sox near the top of the list for hits by a second baseman. Doerr has signed the front of this flannel jersey (“9”) and has also inscribed it, “My Game Worn Boston Uniform.” A detailed letter from MEARS authentication dates the uniform to 1950-51 Spring Training because there is no sign of the American League patch on the left sleeve, which was added during the regular Season. Although the “Wilson” patch has been removed, the style is consistent with Wilson Boston uniforms of that period. Displaying heavy game wear, “Boston” has also been removed and replaced. MEARS has graded the jersey “A6” due to the tagging issues. Autograph has Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Opening Bid $750.
