With the biggest stars from Connie Mack's remarkable 1909-1914 Philadelphia Athletics dynasty dispersed around the league, the A's sank to the franchise's lowest point in 1916, with a dismal record of 36-117. Still, there was something to cheer about, as Nap Lajoie was playing his final MLB season for the A's. Things could get all out exciting when the Detroit Tigers came to town, with hitting machine Ty Cobb in the lineup.

Such was the case at Philadelphia's Shibe Park, when the offered 1916 scorecard was issued for a series against Cobb, and the Tigers. Both Cobb and Lajoie are listed in the lineups on the unused scoring grids, along with stars "Stuffy" McInnis, "Bullet Joe" Bush, Wally Schang, Amos Strunk, Sam Crawford, and Harry Heilman. This scorecard rates as (GD), and presents a bit better than usual for survivors of such ancient age. The graphics and lettering are bold, and the stock remains somewhat crisp, however there are intersecting compacting folds, and the back cover has a light coating of clear adhesive residue on the lower-left quadrant, that does not detract front the graphics.

Opening Bid $400.
