Competing in the American Association, the Columbus Red Birds was a high level minor league affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals from 1931-1954. The 1933 Red Birds squad is pictured on the front of this period-signed postcard, produced by prominent Columbus photography studio, the Baker Art Gallery. Some of the best players to ever suit up for the Red Birds were on the 1933 team, and a fair number are noted among the (16) players who have signed the back of this scarce real photo postcard. The card rates as (GD+), and the autographs average ("8" to "9") potency. Key signers are: Bennie Borgmann (Basketball HOF, d.1978), MLB career .301 hitter Ray Blades (d.1979), and 1934 St. Louis Cardinals "Gashouse Gang" World Series champions Paul Dean (d.1981), Jack Rothrock (d.1980), and "Whitey" Whitehead (d.1993). Other notables are Nick Cullop (d.1978), and Lou Riggs (d.1975). Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA.

Opening Bid $150.
