“Do you believe in miracles? Yes!” went the call of sportscaster Al Michaels as he counted down the final seconds of the “Miracle on Ice” game. It was 2/22/80, at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, NY, when Team USA beat the mighty Soviet Union hockey team. While USA won the gold medal a couple of days later by beating Finland, it was the battle against the “Red Machine” that stands as the high point in United States Olympic history.
All but one of the Team USA Men’s Hockey players are present and accounted for in this frosty cool “Miracle on Ice” display. Sized at majestic proportions of 40" x 32", this eye-catching piece showcases (20) single-signed 1980 Miracle on Ice commemorative pucks, along with photos of game-saving goaltender Jim Craig, captain Mike Eruzione, who scored the game-winning goal, and the on-ice celebration of all the winning players.
