From the earliest years of the current Indianapolis Colts franchise comes this 1953-1957 Baltimore Colts game-worn helmet. Affixed at rear with a pair of classic Colts horseshoe logos, this ancient gamer shows heavy signs of authentic use including abrasions and soiling on the exterior, and sweat staining on the interior six-strap suspension system. The Colts did not have logos on their helmets in 1953 and 1954 seasons and the logos were added for the 1956 season, which also saw the team employ facemasks. While the facemask is absent from this example, the snaps for fastening the mask are present. No manufacturer labeling is noted, but the genuine appeal of this vintage helmet is abundant.
