Though he got knocked around quite a bit in his first two MLB seasons, Tom Glavine eventually showed flashes of the brilliance that would open the doors of Cooperstown for him during his third season with the Atlanta Braves, going 14-8 in 1989. Glavine also helped himself with the occasional knock, and by evidence of his contact surfaces with this 1989 game-used bat from early in his career. The accompanying LOA rates this bat as PSA/DNA (GU 8.5) for its heavy use, and player characteristics. A coating of gripping agent is noted on the handle, and the upper handle is cracked below the Louisville Slugger factory label. Multiple contact marks, bat rack streaks, and a baseball stitch impression are seen on the barrel, which is burned in with the model number "C243" and Glavine’s name in block letters. Glavine’s player number “47” is written in black marker, on both the knob and the barrel end, making it clear that the Braves ace was the owner of this bat. Full LOA from John Taube-PSA/DNA. Opening Bid $750.
