Good things happened for the Baltimore Orioles when Eddie Murray and Rick Dempsey were teammates. Under their steady hands, the O's captured the AL pennant in 1979 and won the World Series in 1983, with Dempsey earning the WS MVP award. Apparently, these rock solid stars shared more than just their winning ways, as evidenced by the offered game-used bat. A 35" long Louisville Slugger R161 Eddie Murray signature model weighing 34.5 ounces, this vintage gamer dates from the period 1980-1983. Though Murray's name is burned into the barrel, Dempsey's uniform number "24" is written on the knob, indicating this heavily used piece of lumber was a loaner, attributed to Dempsey. Murray has signed ("6.5") on the barrel, and overall signs of authentic game use are abundant, including an adhesive repair of the barrel outlined with cracking, grain checking, contact marks, small bat rack streaks, cleat impressions, and tape residue. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA for the Murray autograph. Opening Bid $100.
