A little dribbler in the 1986 World Series caused Bill Buckner, his Boston Red Sox teammates, and the Red Sox Nation at large big pains that lasted until 2004 when the “Curse of the Bambino” was finally lifted. Other than that fateful night at Shea Stadium on 10/6/86, Buckner enjoyed a fine career, including his highly productive days with the Chicago Cubs. While manning first base for the Cubs, Buckner did a considerable amount of hitting with this 1980-1983 game-used bat. Turned by Louisville Slugger, this K55 Buckner signature model bat shows very heavy use, with numerous contact marks and grain swelling from repeated contact on the barrel, and cracks on the central factory brand and handle. PSA/DNA has added up this authentic use to arrive at a grade of (GU 8.5). Buckner’s uniform number “22” is written on both the end of the barrel and the knob, and a facsimile autograph and the model number are burned into the barrel. During the four-year labeling period of 1980-1983, Buckner batted .300+ three times, including his career high .324 mark in 1980. Full LOA from John Taube-PSA/DNA. Opening Bid $150.
