It wasn’t all power and pitching for the great Philadelphia Phillies teams of the 1975 to 1984 era. There were also a good number of Gold Glove winners flashing leather in the field including the “Secretary of Defense”, Garry Maddox. The speedy center fielder won seven consecutive Gold Glove awards with the “Fightin’ Phils” from 1976-1982, denying countless extra-base hits in the process. From the height of his time with the Phillies are these 1979 game-used pants. Donned by Maddox during homes games, these red pinstriped pants show abundant signs of authentic use/wear, including patch repairs on the left knee, and back of the left thigh, which is partially detached along the right and bottom edges. There’s a button absent from the rear right pocket and moderate staining and soiling is evident on the front. As evidenced by the Wilson label inside the waistband, the waist size has been customized as reflected by a stitched “33” on the label, where the size would ordinarily have been printed. The accompanying LOA notes the condition, and informs that Wilson typically made baseball pants in even number sizes. Next to the Wilson label is a stitched swatch with “Maddox 79 1 27” for the player, season, uniform set, and inseam. Also seen inside the waistband is evidence of recycling with the name of Phillies 1981-1984 minor leaguer “Frish” (Mark Frishman) and his player number “14” written in black. LOA from Phil Wood.

Opening Bid $200.
