It was a long time coming, but thanks to Jackie Robinson and Branch Rickey, the door to the Majors finally opened for legendary hurler Satchel Paige in 1948. After thrilling Negro League crowds for more than two decades, the highly deserving Paige spent two seasons with the Cleveland Indians, and another three with the St. Louis Browns. This all-time great is seen here in an autographed 8x10 photo, with is framed and matted to overall dimensions of 13x16. Paige has applied a highly pleasing (“9.5”) strength autograph to the front of the offered photo, by means of a blue felt-tip pen. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. Opening Bid $150.
