John Smoltz spent all but one of his 21 seasons with the Braves. Who won 14 consecutive division titles, five National League pennants and one World Series title during his tenure. He is the only pitcher in MLB history to record at least 200 wins and 150-plus saves. The Hall of Famer made his big-league debut in 1988, so this jersey was worn by a young Smoltz. The Phil Wood LOA gives extensive detail on why this c.1988-92 Atlanta Braves pregame/batting practice/spring training jersey #29, size “46” by Rawlings is attributed to Smoltz. Jersey is Navy blue, 100% polyester, with a six-button front and set-in sleeves. Jersey front displays the “Braves” script in red tackle twill with white trim. Affixed below the team name is a red tomahawk, trimmed in white with Navy and gold accents. The right sleeve shows a small embroidered Rawlings logo in white. On the back of the jersey is a red with white trim tackle twill 7 1/2 inch #29. Affixed above the digits is a navy blue plate with the name “SMOLTZ” in three inch wide tackle twill block letters in a vertical arch. Jersey displays some wear and laundering, though pitchers do very little pregame that would put wear-and-tear on a polyester jersey. Overall condition is excellent. LOA from Phil Wood. Opening Bid $150.
