The rich tradition of Ivy League sports stretches back before the Civil War. During the 1860s, when baseball was still young and college teams were big draws, teams were formed at Harvard and Yale, and these prestigious universities have been great rivals ever since. Their first meeting came in 1868, and over the many years, Harvard and Yale have met on a baseball diamond on nearly 400 occasions, with Harvard holding a slim lead, with a record of 194-178-1 against Yale. From a long ago Harvard vs. Yale contest, comes this antique scorecard. Yale hosted the represented game at Hamilton Park in New Haven, a venue that served as the home field for the New Haven Elm City baseball team, during the 1875 National Association (NAPBBP) season. Dated 5/28/1881 on the front cover, this ancient scorecard remains a crisp, clean, and very attractive example, showing VG-EX details, with deference to a 1-1/2” spine split at bottom. Listed in the Yale lineup are “Wild Bill” Hutchison, who enjoyed a lengthy MLB career, and Walter Camp, famously known as “The Father of American Football”.

Opening Bid $150.
