On the strength of an impressive Spring Training, rookie Mickey Mantle made the New York Yankees 1951 opening day roster. Mantle was assigned uniform number 6, which he wore until he was sent to the minors in mid-July. A stern talk from his father got him back on track, and he was called back up to the Yankees in late August, this time wearing his famed number 7. From Mickey's rookie campaign comes this 1951 New York Yankees program. Printed for a late-June series versus the Boston Red Sox, this unused program lists Mantle on the scorecard lineup as #6. A 1" vertical tear at top-center, goes all the through to the back cover, otherwise this crisp, clean programs shows Ex+ details.
