An MLB manager during 1880s, Jim Hart took over as president of the franchise now known as thew Chicago Cubs in 1891. At the time, the team was known as the Chicago Colts, and during Hart’s tenure as president, and later principal owner, the franchise was known by many names. It’s the 1898-1902 Chicago Orphans era that comes into play here, with this crisp c.1900 Chicago League Ball Club full ticket. A rare prize to be sure, this antique 3-1/2 x 1-7/8” ticket is very nicely preserved. Technically, condition is (VG-EX) due to a 3/4” straight line surface indentation, that runs vertically a 1/4” in from the right edge. On the reverse, the ink did not take along the top of the letters on the first line of printed text. Otherwise, the text is bold on the front and back, including the facsimile signature of “James A. Hart”, who is cited as “President”. Opening Bid $250.
