Relive the ecstasy and the ultimate agony of the 1964 Philadelphia Phillies season, with this 1964 Bulletin Phillies portraits complete set of (27). A fairly tough regional issue, these colorful newspaper premiums are the work of artist Jim Ponter. The Phillies were cruising through the 1964 campaign at full throttle, and by mid-September, they held a 6-1/2 game first place lead, with 12 games to play. Then disaster struck in the form of a 10-game losing streak, infamously known as "The Phold". Despite their late season swoon, the '64 Phils are fondly remembered by the "Philly Phaithful", and this handsome set is a great collecting prize. Condition is highly pleasing overall, with negligible to minor corner wear being the only issue of note for the offered set, which ranges Ex+ to Nm-Mt. While there are (2) Jim Bunning variations, the set is considered complete at (27) portraits.
