With the 100th Anniversary of the Pittsburgh Pirates 1925 championship season just over the horizon, now is the perfect time to take possession of this extremely rare jumbo button. Outfitted with a metal easel stand on the back, this celluloid wonder is majestically sized with a 7-1/2" diameter. The legend "1925 Pirates National League Champions" indicates this antique treasure was made just prior to the start of the 1925 World Series, which saw the Pirates take down the defending champion Washington Senators, in a hard-fought seven-game series. Twenty-eight portrait photos take up most of the surface area, including Hall of Famers Barney Dreyfuss (owner), Fred Clarke (part-owner/VP), Bill McKechnie (manager), "Kiki" Cuyler, Max Carey, and "Pie" Traynor. Moderate edge staining has negligible impact on the photos, and otherwise, this ancient relic retains an impressive degree of integrity, rating as Vg, with distinct images, and bold lettering.
