On the short list of all-time greatest baseball teams, are the 1961 New York Yankees. This super-squad is nicely represented here, with this Yankees multi-signed baseball.  While the factory labeling stamps of this early 1960s period signed ball are mostly faded, the maker remains identifiable as Reach. A longtime antiques dealer cites this ball as having been acquired from the wife of Frank Stanahan. A famed weightlifter, marathon runner, and pro golfer, Stanahan is known to have golfed regularly with Yankees players. Several of his Yankees pals have signed the offered multi-signed ball, with: Mickey Mantle (“6”) on the north panel, with the personalization “To Frank, My Best Wishes, Your Pal, Mickey Mantle”; Roger Maris (“5-6”) on the south panel; “Whitey” Ford (“6”) on the east panel; and Tony Kubek (“5”) on the west panel. While the accompanying LOA names (4) signers, with Mantle, Ford, Kubek, and Maris, the signature of Bobby Richardson (“6”) appears on the sweet spot. Though Richardson’s signature is not mentioned, it does appear to be a genuine, vintage example. Full LOA from Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication Services. Opening Bid $400.
