Pop One! Important 1948 Gunther Beer Washington Senators postcard picturing diamond veterans Mickey Vernon (played in four decades) and Gil Coan (notched the first base hit in modern Baltimore Orioles history).
Part of a newly discovered find of 1948 Gunther Beer Washington Senators postcards. This “new to hobby” offering has increased the total PSA population for the extraordinarily rare PC797 designation from 4 to 16 copies – each with a total census of only 1 or 2!
These postcards were originally dispatched via a promotion through famed D.C. area sports broadcaster Arch McDonald. A pre-printed message is found on the reverses along with each postcard being hand addressed, postmarked and stamped to the Virginia family from which this collection originates. Although each are graded Authentic by PSA (none are graded above that level by the grading service), the two-player black-and-white fronts otherwise present in much higher condition with relatively sharp corners, crease-free surfaces and clear graphics. Postmark impressions which break through the surface do not significantly impact this important collection’s overall presentation. Opening Bid $300.
