Bank a couple on antique treasures, with these (2) 1889 National Base Ball Club currency notes. Decorating these indentical notes, are engraved images of Chicago White Stockings president Al Spalding in a oval portrait inset, and star first baseman Cap Anson in a batting pose. Dated "Season of 1889" at center, these novelty notes also bear seals near Anson's legs, that are printed with "Members of the Chicago Base Ball Club". One note is adhered to a 9-1/4 x 6" album page, along with (2) fantasy issue CSA 50-cents fractional notes, which are both printed with "This Bill is Worthless", under profile portraits of Jefferson Davis. The other baseball currency is adhered to the opposite side of the page by itself. Both pieces of baseball currency are stamped over with advertising for a shoe store, and facsimile signatures are located below the Spalding insets. Surface loss affects the bottom left corner of the CSA note on the left, and while the there is considerable wear along the perimeter of the album page, both pieces of baseball currency show sharp edges, however one is overlapped by the CSA notes. Also noted are moderate creases, and minor rippling. Despite these conditions, both baseball notes remain attractive, with fairly clean surfaces, and nice graphics.

Opening Bid $150.
