Good player, good manager, and good guy, Gil Hodges was all those things, and a 2X World Series champion as well. He was also a good signer, as evidenced by this autographed 1967 Topps baseball card #228. Hodges is seen beaming a broad, friendly smile on the front of this card, which he has signed with ("9") strength, and a nice touch of flair. A bit more than two years after leading the "Amazin' Mets" to a stunning upset of the Baltimore Orioles in the 1969 World Series, Hodges was felled by a sudden heart attack, at the relatively young age of 47. He was finally enshrined in the Hall of Fame in 2022, fifty years after his tragic demise. Auction LOA from JSA.
