There's a lot to be said about "Red" Auerbach, but we'll keep it brief. As a head coach, general manager, team president, and vice-chairman for the Boston Celtics, this great basketball lifer collected a big bundle of jewelry and hardware. The best team architect in NBA history, Auerbach earned 16 championships during his illustrious career, with 9 as a head coach, and 7 as an executive. When he moved from the court to the front office after the 1965-66 season, he held the record for coaching wins, with 938.

From Auerbach's final season as head coach, comes this 1965 Madison Square Garden program and ticket stub pairing. Published for a 12/7/65 double-header with the Boston Celtics vs. St. Louis Hawks; and New York Knicks vs. Los Angeles Lakers; this program represents Auerbach's 900th career coaching win. The Celtics bested the Hawks by a score of 112-96, and went on to finish their historic season with an 8th straight NBA Championship. Two hole-punches are located near the spine, and the date "Dec. 7, 1965" is handwritten across the top of the front cover, otherwise this milestone program shows VG-EX details. A crisp 12/7/65 MSG ticket stub stapled to the inside of the front cover shows VG details. Also stapled inside the cover are a dated 12/7/65 MSG coat check ticket stub, and a newspaper clipping with box scores for the double-header.
