Brooklyn Dodger halfback Chris Cagle earned the nickname "Red" by drawing comparisons to Red Grange, and back at West Point, Cagle and his Army teammates were the opponents who spurred Knute Rockne's "Win One for the Gipper" speech! Cagle's notoriety was such that he graced the cover of TIME Magazine just weeks before the stock market crash of 1929. He later founded New York's Touchdown Club with fellow luminaries Pudge Heffelfinger, John Heisman and Charles Pearson. Sadly, Cagle died in 1942 at age 37 after falling down a flight of subway stairs. On this game day, November 30, 1933, the football Dodgers fell to the football Giants at Ebbets Field. Hall of Famer Benny Friedman is pictured inside, and there are rostered Hall of Famers including Ray Flaherty, Mel Hein, Ken Strong and Red Badgro. GD condition with a vertical pocket fold and other scattered creasing.
