The 18th annual Hall of Fame Game at Cooperstown's Doubleday Field saw the Pirates beat the A's on the strength of 2 home runs from Bill Mazeroski and 1 from teammate Bill Virdon. Presumably, the vintage ballpoint signatures of Joe DiMaggio ("9"), George Sisler ("8"), Ty Cobb ("7") and one other hail from that very afternoon, while the blue-Sharpie "9-10" examples of Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle were added later.
