Autograph aficionados score a great prize, with this Morgan Bulkeley cut signature. A prominent businessman in the insurance field, Bulkeley was also the owner of the Hartford Dark Blues, an MLB team that became a charter member of the National League in 1876. That same year Bulkeley was named the newly formed NL's first president. Fifteen years after his death in 1922, Bulkeley was posthumously elected to the Hall of Fame by the Veteran's Committee, as a member of the second HOF class in 1937. One of the tougher HOFer autographs, this remarkable cut signature example is encapsulated by PSA/DNA with an autograph only grade of (MINT 9). Bulkeley has included the salutation "Yours Sincerely" and the inscriptions "Nov. 28/10" and "U.S.S. Conn.". In addition to his business and baseball careers, Bulkeley was a high ranking politician, having held office as both Governor and Senator for the State of Connecticut. The latter of his inscriptions obviously stands for "United States Senator, Connecticut", giving this century old autograph tremendous crossover appeal for both sports and political collectors.
