Having toiled for 11 different clubs during a 25-year career in the Negro Leagues, shortstop Willie Wells is widely credited for teaching Jackie Robinson how to turn a double play. This photograph was autographed by Wells many years after his memorable playing career. The 3-1/2 x 5” black-and-white photo is signed on the reverse in blue ballpoint (“9” strength) and inscribed “5-12-81.” Accompanying is a full photo LOA from JSA.
