Ideal canvases for some of the most elusive autographs in baseball circles, these (2) postmarked cachets read like a “Who’s Who” among Hall of Famers! Includes:
1969: celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Major League Baseball, this Cincinnati-postmarked First Day Cover is signed (various writing utensils, average “9” strength) by: Rick Ferrell, Travis Jackson, George Kell, Buck Leonard, Johnny Mize, Robin Roberts and Joe Sewell.
1979: a 1979 World Series cachet, the keepsake is postmarked “OCT 13 1979” (the host Pirates were felled by a 6-run Baltimore uprising in the 8th inning that afternoon to fall behind three games-to-one before rebounding in dramatic fashion). There are some moisture-induced stains adversely affecting only one of the signatures, which include: Earl Averill (“5” strength), Larry Doby (“8” strength, inscribed “Best Wishes”), Buck Leonard (“8-9” strength), Satchel Paige (“7-8” strength) and Edd Roush (“9” strength)
