Here's a big green monster anybody could love. Exposed to gamma radiation as his alter-ego Bruce Banner during a bomb test, the Incredible Hulk first went on the rampage as a gray-skinned behemoth in May, 1962. Due to production coloring inconsistencies, the eight foot tall founding Avenger was quickly changed to green for his second issue, which was published by the Marvel Comics Group in July, 1962. Marvelites will be smashing down doors to get at this high quality example of The Incredible Hulk #2. Marking the first green-skin appearance of the now iconic super-hero character, this incredibly well-preserved example is graded 8.5 by the respected CGC certification service. This rating is good for a Census position of "1/9" at this level with just 22 higher, out of a Universal Grade population of 761.
Recently seen in the blockbuster films "Thor Ragnarok" and "The Avengers Infinity War", the mega-popular Hulk has soared to new heights of fan appreciation, pushing the value of this coveted key issue past the $10,000 threshold for examples at this grading tier. Label notations include "Off-White to White Pages, Stan Lee story, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko cover and art, 1st green Hulk, 2nd appearance of Hulk, Rick Jones, Betty Ross and General Ross, 1st appearance of the Toad Men". Carefully secluded after a single reading by our preservation minded consignor, this incredible issue hits the market for the first time since its 1962 release and stands as a tremendous find for the comic book hobby.
In case you are wondering if there's more, the answer is yes. Our fortunate consignor maintained a sizeable collection of Silver Age comic books in careful storage since the 1960s.
