DC’s top two super-hero characters are teamed up in this big bundle of (264) vintage comic books. Dating from 1968-1984, this mostly 1970s collection is built around Superman and Batman. Since their introduction in the late 1930s, these mega-popular heroes have dominated the comic book hobby and both have made such a tremendous impact on pop culture, they can be considered nothing less than icons.

Those of us who were a kid at one time (you know who you are) will remember doing all sorts of stuff to their comic books, including writing on or coloring them in, rolling or folding them and putting them in your back pocket, fixing tears with tape and so on. Well the kid who owned this collection decided to reinforce many of the issues in this collection by adding staples along the spines. Otherwise the great majority remain handsome with bright colors and nice gloss, showing details ranging as 80% GD-VG to FN-VF, 20% PR to GD.

Considering the age of these issues and the importance of the characters, this lesser grade collection should still represent significant value and someone armed with patience and a staple puller stands to enjoy nice resale value, especially in light of the very modest starting point for such a large package of popular issues. Featured are:

(39) Batman main series issues numbered between 200-331 with key issues (followed by apparent grades with deference to added staples): #200 first Neal Adams art this title FR, #208 80-Page Giant FR, #227 Neal Adams cover swipe of Detective Comics #31 GD-VG, #234 first modern appearance of Harvey Dent/Two-Face GD+, #237 Neal Adams art, first appearance of the Reaper GD, #243 Neal Adams art VG; the balance of this group shows average GD-VG to VG+ details with 10% lesser and a few better

(41) Detective Comics numbered between 352-515, this group presents much better with 75% staple free and 25% with added staples, condition ranges as (80% VG to FN-VF, 20% PR to GD, with deference to 25% with staples added) with the oldest issues showing heavy wear and the more recent editions being quite pleasing; key issues are: #359 introduction and origin of Batgirl (PR) but without added staples, #405 debut of the League of Assassins (GD) no added staples; (6) 100-Page Giants average (GD-VG to VG+, just one with an added staple) with: #438, #439, #442, #443, #444, #445; and #500 Anniversary issue (VG-, no added staples)

(45) Superman main series numbered between 224-344, another split group, with the (23) issues numbered 224-269 nearly all having added staples, otherwise these issues present average VG to FN details with (3) lesser; and (22) issues 270-344 are free of added staples and show a pleasing condition average of (VG-FN to FN-VF)
