We've racked our brains and crashed the Internet trying to ascertain the who, what, when, where and why of this extraordinary ball. At first blush, one would have to guess the 1934 All-Star Game, since the Heydler stamping style pinpoints 1934 and since so many of that Mid-Summer Classic's legends (including 4 of Carl Hubbell's 5 straight HOF strikeout victims) are present here. However, the names with no '34 All-Star association run the geographic gamut of teams, giving no specific indication of time or place. The medium-toned, shellacked, power-packed sphere features two dozen signatures mostly averaging "6-8".
