"Adventure's waiting just ahead" with this fantastic Speed Racer animation cel. Created in Japan in 1965, the original Speed Racer animated show burst onto American TV sets in 1967. Drawn from the '60s show, the offered handpainted and hand inked 17 x 13-3/4" cel and backer set is titled "The Most Dangerous Race" and features Speed in the Mach V racing against his mysterious brother Racer X. This dynamic piece is graced with iconic images and vivid colors, with the racers looking as though they could drive right off the panel and into the room. From a series of sixteen different cels released by Toon Art, Inc. in 1993, this mesmerizing piece takes the checkered flag in excellent condition, with negligible traces of wear. The accompanying LOA from Toon Art states that this is the only animation cel series authorized by Speed Racer Enterprises and also relates the limited edition of this piece to number 125, plus 20 Artist's Proofs and 20 Hors Commerce. This piece falls into the Hors Commerce run of 20 and is hand numbered "HC4". In addition the cel is hand signed in Japanese by Ippei Kuri, who served as art director and key animator for the original 1960s Speed Racer television series. "Go Speed Racer, Go!".
