Synonymous with the “Monsters of the Midway,” their famed “T-formation” and glorious tenures at both Wrigley Field and Soldier Field, George “Papa Bear” Halas was the legendary founder and longtime mentor of the Chicago Bears. Long after roaming the sidelines in his trademark fedora, Halas signed this autobiographical work. Entitled Halas by Halas (McGraw-Hill, 1979), the hardcover edition is signed by Halas on the title page. Preceded by a “Best Wishes” salutation, Halas’ blue ink signature projects “perfect 10” strength and clarity. The original dust jacket remains (with minor edge fissures).
